A sideboard designed respecting the classic canons, using the proportions of the furniture of the 17th, 18th and 19th century, generally possesses an incomparable proportions and style.
Its shape, already familiar to our eyes, can be easily inserted in any context and type of furniture. We covered this classical furniture shpe with new and reclaimed solid wood species and unusual materials to make it contemporary.
To design this sideboard we have combined reclaimed wood with a classic shape. The idea was to make fun of the “arte povera” and antique fakes in a historical-fantastic reinterpretation.
Furniture that has survived and brought back to life by jockey restorers! All the “patinas” of the reclaimed woods are original and the construction system of the furniture is the one used by the traditional carpenters.
The grafting of original materials into the design of the 50s allowed us to create new aesthetic short circuits.
We combined Italian walnut with oxidized steel, creating the “Noce e Ferro” chest of drawers (2012), or sport climbing ropes, creating the “Noce e Corde” sideboard (2013).
We have studied the art of inlay and intarsia at the woodworking and carpentry school. We decided to make this ancient technique contemporary: by combining it with contemporary materials and taste. The result has been the creation of unconventional wooden textures which renew this classical type of furniture.
