The main purpose for which we are asked to design and build low sideboards is to find a decoration solution for tv and hi-fi set locations. We have designed a simple system to hide the cables of decoders, DVDs, routers and stereos, which allows, at the same time, to plug-in and out them easily.
The Q21 media low sideboards are designed with opened and closed spaces, doors, drawers and shelves. This specific furniture is designed to hide sockets but at the same time to easily use them.
The open parts allow easy access to the cables and to plug-ins on the wall, behind the piece of furniture.
Located along a linear or angled wall, inserted between an armchair and a sofa, our custom made low sideboards can be transformed and adapted to different purposes and spaces. Their legs can have different styles and be very original, they can be made with wood only, new or reclaimed, but also with a mix of lacquierings or resin and natural woods. We can provide them with wheels, in order to make the movement easier.
Often, the low sideboard is the starting point for designing an entire equipped wall: we normally start with the design of the lowest part of a decoration and then design the other modules and elements, such as shelves, cabinet, bookcases, which will be the other part of a more complex equipped wall unit.
The most used finishes for low sideboards are lacquered colors and resin, but we also design low tv cabinets and low furniture made entirely of recycled wood or solid new wood.
The “Ocra” sideboard takes its name from the natural clay pigment used to create that particular shade for the structure. Its characteristic stands in the hatch on the top of this low sideboard which allows access to a bottle holder inside the cabinet. We decided to design an open compartiment in the front to break the linearity of the structure, but you can choose a different organization as all our furniture is customizable and handmade.
The porthole door and the drawers set in a row recall a mathematical formula. The legs belong to a vintage dismissed piece of furniture. The “Ocra” sideboard has paved the way for designing new furniture and transforming the high sideboard models into a new tiny format, which we have called “the Nane sideboard”.
We asked ourselves if it was possible to think about ceramics as a structural material for furniture and not just as covering or tiles to be applied to a wall.
We decided to explore this new field with Martina Lignini , an experienced italian ceramist, who has been collaborating with Laquercia21 in a lot of decoration projects.
She designed and created handmade red glazed ceramic slabs which have become parts of the small Martina sideboard. The use of these slabs created irregular cuts, sinuous and “liquid” edges and unusual and contemporary tops.
You choose the ingredients!
Our catalogue has to be taken as a guide among our creations, ideas and kinds of solutions for decorating your home. They are a sort of family albums which show all the furniture designed and built along the years.
You can use it as an inspirational idea and move from it towards your custom-made and personalized furniture.
You can mix the ingredients as you like it: shapes, materials, dimensions, woods, reclaimed or new solid wood. This is the starting point which leads you to your customized handmade furniture!
And then… we do the rest!
First of all we create a 3D project which gives you an idea of the result. From this step we start to modify the project as you suggest. We continue until we don’t reach your ideal furniture!
