Insutrial style tables

Reclaimed wood is a very eclectic material. Time acts on it always in a different way with different results. Time leaves to the surface of the wood a unique visible trace impossible to reproduce artificially. Each piece of reclaimed wood used for our furniture has its own history and charm, a patina and signs that make it unique.

The texture and peculiarity of the table tops built entirely in reclaimed wood finds its maximum expression when it is combined with iron.

Even the solid wood top, with its softness and aesthetics, blends perfectly with the iron structures, perhaps left rough or painted, as in the case of the table in canaletto walnut and iron.

Oak and iron

A construction technique that we often use is to combine solid oak with one or various reclaimed wood patinas. The oak forms a solid perimeter frame that frames the internal patchwork of woods. The design is free, colored, white or gray patinas, dark (wenge) or light (oak, maple) solid woods can be used evoking different moods and atmospheres.

The “Arouf” table combines this style with an austere iron base, left to its natural color, as in the case of the “Magma” table. In the design, the combinations between the colors of the legs and the top are endless.

Coloured reclaimed wood and iron

The possibilities of creating colored reclaimed tables with an iron structures are endless.

The possible mix of colors can be dictated by the case, that depends on the shades and colors recycled woods we have in our stock have, or it depends on personal tastes and colors already present in the dining room or in the living area.

Sometimes a table top is transformed into a real canvas on which we act both with the tools of the carpenter and with brushes and markers!

Tavolo “Ragno”

This iron and wood table takes its name from its “arachnoid” base, with thin iron rod legs that bend towards the center of the structure and intertwine with even thinner reinforcing rods.

The top, as in the table “Arouf” is in oak and reclaimed wood.

Reclaimed raw wood top and iron legs

The “Magma” tables series combines two powerful materials: the fir boards used in construction sites, worn and grayed by oxidation and often engraved by the use, and iron. The name derives from the first prototype we made, inserting some sort of “lava” red stains in the reclaimed wood cavities.

In the following tables we left the natural wood without intervening with other colors, but there were requests for tables stained with blue or white.

The touch of time

Old construction wooden boards

On construction sites, fir is used for carpentry and scaffolding. After years, exhausted, dirty with concrete traces  and dust, it comes to us. The fir boards, once being cleaned, are used to assemble the top of our iron and wood tables, trying to save as much as possible those signs that tell their story, without compromising the functionality of the table.

The natural “patina” of the wood is fixed by a water-based or transparent resin finish, so the top can be cleaned with water and detergents.

Why the iron base

The base of the “Magma” table is made with box-shaped iron profiles with a square section, which can be colored, oxidized or left in their natural color, with the signs of visible processing (welding and abrasions).

The use of iron makes it possible to use thinner profiles than wood, and therefore to build large tables which maintain slim lines. The minimal design of the base accentuates this lightness. The transparent or colored powder finish guarantees the protection of the iron and the possibility of being cleaned with water and detergents.

Hydraulic pipes table

The base of this table is made entirely of galvanized iron hydraulic pipes. The tubes, screwed and welded together, allow to create a very solid structure.

The game ironically transforms a plumbing system into a hi-tech design structure.

We made the “Tubi” table top using solid ash boards that were not planed and left in their natural color.

The project is open to the use of different materials: for example, a glass top through which the sinuous path of the tubes can be seen, or a reclaimed wood top, perhaps in combination with a color of your choice to be applied on the tubes.
