The combination of new cement resins with new and reclaimed solid wood has allowed us to mix past and present, evoking different atmospheres from time to time, from industrial archaeology to Moroccan interiors, from abstract art to simple material effects.
In this section we present some examples of this research that is constantly evolving and that looks at an unconventional way of combining forms and materials.
The finish made using the resin is handmade, colored or decorated by us: concrete effect, off-white and mother-of-pearl, shaded black, ocher, earths and pigments.
The resin is a particular microcement that makes the surface much irreguar (is the opposite effect of lacquering).
Each stroke of the spatula or brush we use to lay the resin over the wood produces a unique effect, which is then enhanced by the glazes of color that are made subsequently.
The resin is a very hard and resistant to shocks and abrasions material, for this it can also be used for kitchen cabinets and worktops finishings. It is washable with water and detergents.
The small scratches that the use of furniture can inevitably cause, are confused with the shaded colors, but don’t worry: it is always possible to touch up and restore a handmade finish.
For the finishing step we prefer to use water-based products, which are resistant and non-toxic. The surfaces are finished by applying, with a brush or a roller, at least three coats of paint. Alternatively we make finishes with acrylic resins or polyester lacquers.
Clown sideboard is a multicolored piece of furntiure. This multicoloured effect is created both by the use of recycled wood and the colored resin in different tones lay over the surface.
The resin gives a particular material effects, a kind of a texture in relief not homogeneous and eclectic. In this case, the resin was laid with a spatula and before solidification was “scratched” with a kind of rake. This caused small grooves that give movement to the surface.
In addition, colored resins with different pigments have been applied to create chromatic contrast.
Most of the finishes are made by us, but as regards the resins we have been collaborating for some time with a great decorator, Daniela Argenti, who has invented a very large range of finishes. You can choose one of those to finish your sideboard.
We have created different items in collaboration with her, for example “Graffi”, “Muffe Sognanti” and “Coccodrillo rosso”.
Daniela Pareschi has painted for us a small series of “Pupazzi” decorating the doors with original illustrations which are transformed into 3D drawing by the use of old objects inserted into the paintings.
Thinking a sideboard as a blank sheet to be drawn is a wide field for experimenting and artistic collaborations.
You choose the ingredients!
Our catalogue has to be taken as a guide among our creations, ideas and kinds of solutions for decorating your home. They are a sort of family albums which show all the furniture designed and built along the years.
You can use it as an inspirational idea and move from it towards your custom-made and personalized furniture.
You can mix the ingredients as you like it: shapes, materials, dimensions, woods, reclaimed or new solid wood. This is the starting point which leads you to your customized handmade furniture!
And then… we do the rest!
First of all we create a 3D project which gives you an idea of the result. From this step we start to modify the project as you suggest. We continue until we don’t reach your ideal furniture!
